Since then, he has become a passionate consumer advocate and leading champion for transparency in the mattress industry. While becoming a mattress expert was never part of his "life plan," he takes great joy in his ability to help people and reluctantly acknowledges that his 10+ years of experience in testing and studying mattresses, collecting feedback from hundreds of thousands of mattress owners, and designing information and software to guide mattress shoppers may in fact have made him the world's leading independent authority on the subject.
Mark Quinn, Co-Founder, Spink and Edgar USA
Mark Quinn is Co-Founder at Spink and Edgar USA a luxury farm-to-bedroom mattress line produced with materials grown on the companys 300-acre farm in the countryside of Yorkshire, England. He previously held executive positions with several major bedding manufacturers including Sealy Mattress Co., Serta, Inc. and Leggett & Platt. Mark worked in marketing and business development with some of the top mattress retailers and bedding producers in the United States and created record breaking programs inside several distribution channels domestically and internationally including wholesale clubs, shop television, sleep shops, e-commerce retailers, department stores and furniture stores. Throughout the course of his career, he has designed several state-of-the-art products, which he holds patents for including the very first high-tech mattress featured at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that measured bio-metric feedback and quality of sleep. In addition, he played a critical role in the development and popularization of the hybrid category in the bedding industry. Backed by breakthrough sales and marketing programs, Marks innovative thinking and passion for sleep products has resulted in tremendous top and bottom line growth. Mark continues to push the industry as a thought leader through his successful blog Qs Views found at mquinn.com and is also the co-host of the Dos Marcos podcast found on Sleep-Geek.com. Often in our stressful lives we're surrounded by a cacophony of sound we have no power to stop. Sometimes we're not aware of the detrimental impact unwanted noise is having upon us. With the rapid advancement of technology the problem is getting worse. If we don't collectively do something about this our ability to hear the subtle sounds around us will disappear and suffer the inevitable consequences on society's health. In 2011 Quiet Mark award programme launched to tackle the situation as the commercial trading partner supporting the work of UK's Noise Abatement Society charity. By rigorously assessing the quietest technology and solutions to unwanted noise the Quiet Mark award now helps consumers easily find the quietest products creating a demand for quieter technology and noise reduction solutions in our homes, work and outdoor living spaces. Quiet Mark initially sprang from the response to public complaints received by UK's Noise Abatement Societys 24/7 national noise help-line, concerning the volume of excessive noise made by household tools and appliances which invade the fabric of everyday life since grown to technical assessments of over 45 categories of product design across global markets. Quiet Mark brings the answer with a universal symbol and system of support for consumers and industry alike to transform of the aural environment together for the benefit of all and the generations to come.
